Mini PDU
The Rastorder Mini PDU, is a complete DC
power distributing and managing system for your mixer bag, (or your
sound cart). With four nominal 12 V outputs as well as an output
with a switched, selection of voltages. The switched output is
for equipment that doesn't accept 12V, or for that occasion when you
might suspect excessive voltage from a lithium-ion battery could
damage it. The voltage selection is as follows; 4.5V 7.5V 9.0V -
Some radio mic receivers and camera link transmitters.
Saves
buying an expensive regulated power cable. Output
configuration, other than standard can be made to order, down to
1.5V for MP3 recorder.
Nominal 12 Volt DC input is via a
(10Amp) 4 pin XLR connector and outputs are via (2Amp) Hirose 4 pin
connectors. (Same as the one on the back of the Betacam
cameras.) There is a master on/off switch and a LED indicator,
(green) for power on, located on the top of the unit. The LED
changes colour (red) when voltage decreases to 10.75V. The power
output is rated 5 Amps at 12 Volts DC and there is a 5A fast blow
fuse to protect the Mini PDU and your equipment from the results of
a direct short. The unit also has a spare fuse holder. There is
also available a version with 6 outputs and a circuit
breaker.

Please
note that heat is a by-product of regulating down from 12V. In most
cases the heat is minimal, however in the case of the Sony TCD-D10
DAT which draws roughly 1 Amp at 7.5 Volts, in either record or play
mode, The Mini PDU gets hot. (Not to its operational detriment) When
recording long interviews with a TCD-D10, having a bit of space
(air) around the Mini PDU would help to dissipate that
heat.
We can supply a dummy battery with lead, to
connect to the Sony TCD-D10 DAT. See other RastOrder products.
